Zinc prices edged up by Rs 0.55, or 0.65 per cent, to Rs 85.75 per kg in futures market today, as speculators built up fresh positions, supported by firming trend at spot markets.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, zinc for delivery in July contract traded Rs 0.55, or 0.65 per cent, higher at Rs 85.75 per kg, with a turnover of 1,164 lots.

The metal for delivery in August contract also gained by Rs 0.50, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 86.85 per kg, with a turnover of 108 lots.

Market analysts attributed the recovery in zinc futures prices to better trend at physical markets on the back of pick up in industrial demand.
