Buoyed by spot demand and firming trend overseas, zinc futures today rose by Rs 1.65, or 1.77 per cent, to Rs 95.05 per kg at the Multi-Commodity Exchange.

The zinc contract for delivery in September traded Rs 1.65, or 1.77 per cent, higher at Rs 95.05 per kg, with a turnover of 188 lots.

The delivery in August contract also gained Rs 1.75, or 1.90 per cent, at Rs 93.80 per kg in a turnover of 1,377 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures to firming trend at the spot market on increased demand and some strength in base metals at the London Metal Exchange.
