Zinc futures shed 0.25 per cent to Rs 98.75 per kg today as speculators reduced their positions, driven by a weak trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, zinc for October delivery lost 25 paise, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 98.75 per kg, with a turnover of 1,129 lots.

Zinc futures for November delivery also slipped by a similar margin to Rs 98.7 per kg in a turnover of 78 lots.

Meanwhile, at the London Metal Exchange, zinc dropped by 0.50 per cent to USD 2,220 per tonne.

Analysts said off-loading of positions following a weak trend overseas and appreciation of the US dollar value weighed on zinc futures here.
