The 2016 Mercedes-AMG S65 Cabriolet will be revealed at the Detriot Motor Show. This four seater luxurious car is a lifestyle product with a heavily sporty undertone.
The S65 Cabriolet gets a twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V12, same as the S65 Coup. This mammoth engine produces 621bhp of power at 4800rpm and an insane 999Nm of torque at 2300-4300rpm. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission which includes three drive modes Controlled Efficient, Sport and Manual. It comes with 20-inch alloy wheels fitted with 285/35 size tyres.
The Cabriolet does 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds, which is same as the S65 Coupe, though it is heavier by 175 kgs. It achieves a top speed of 250km/h which is electronically limited, though customers an opt for a Drivers Package that increases it to almost 300km/h. This package also includes higher rated tyres.
The S65 Cabriolet looks different from the other S-Class Cabriolets and uses more chrome all around, including the air ducts, wheels, V12 bi-turbo badges on the fenders and the trapezoidal shaped tailpipes. The fabric roof is available in a choice of colors like black, dark blue, beige and dark red. The roof can be opened and closed in a matter of 17 seconds, precisely. Inside, this luxurious cabriolet gets Mercedes-Benzs Aircap wind protection deflector, airscarf heating element in the backrests of the front seats and heated armrests that are shared with the S65 Coupe, apart from a host of other features.
We are not sure whether the S65 Cabriolet will come to India, but Mercedes-Benz may introduce it at a later stage, through the CBU route, on pre-orders.
