Datsun has recently launched the GO+, the first compact MPV for the Indian car market. The GO+ is based on the GO, however it has a + for an extra row of seating or larger boot, which one needs to use. The GO and GO+ will soon be offered with an option of airbag/s. The additional cost for this hasnt been mentioned, and we shall come to now about it when this feature is offered.
Guillaume Sicard, President -Nissan India Operations told us, Datsun will be offering airbag in the top-of-the-line T variant. With the growing requirement and alertness for safety amongst car buyers, Datsun will be offering this on both its products. Datsun is offering bigger disc brakes on the GO and GO+ and the suspension technology has been evolved from Infiniti for maximum comfort.
Datsun has third highest market share in the A-segment, with an approximate market share of three per cent. Maruti Suzuki Alto and the Hyundai Eon are ahead of the Datsun in this segment.Read our review of the Datsun GO+.
1 We even spoke to Mr Sicard about no diesel engines, and in response he mentioned, Datsun has a highly fuel efficient 1.2-litre petrol engine and the customers are happy with the fuel-efficiency. At the moment, we have no plans for a diesel in Datsun, however we are observing the evolution of the diesel market.
Nissan surely has the 1.5-litre K9K engine that powers the Micra, however it isnt even offered on the Micra Active, which is based on the same chassis as the Micra.
