Ford has been testing the Figo sedan not just for India, but also for other markets as well. The company had imported a 1.5-litre petrol engine driven Figo sedan in India for research and development purpose from Germany. The Figo will be a compact sedan and it won't suit the Indian requirements, as the 1.5-litre TiVCT petrol engine attracts more duty than a 1.2-litre petrol, which is already there in the Ford fleet.
(FOC) VEHICLE FORD FIGO 4 DOORS (SEDEN TYPE) VIN NO. WF0GXXGAJGET99914 - NEW ENGINE 1.5L SIGMA TIVCT, (R&D PURPOSE) MO Ford Figo 2015 Most of the compact sedans available in petrol are a 1.2-litre petrol and this means that Ford will also be looking at getting the 1.2-litre petrol for a lower price tag. There are rumours that the 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine will also be powering the Figo hatchback and the sedan. This engine will be detuned to produce 85bhp of power, from the 125bhp that it produces in the Ecosport. The production of direct injection and high-pressure cylinder technologies will be much higher the 1.2-litre, which is already being manufactured by Ford. The Figo will be powered with a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine.
The Figo sedan will be its replacement for the Classic. The 1.4-litre diesel engine and the 1.6-litre petrol engines of Ford might be discontinued, as it won't used on any of its engines. The Figo sedan and the hatchback will be making their way soon, commencing with the production of both the cars. Both will be launched this year and Ford will be exporting them from their new Sanand plant.
