The 13th edition of Gulf Foster a Child Car Drive held on Sunday, 1st March 2015 saw a participation of over 42 families fostering 60 kids. Their revelry extended to a brunch at Dukes Retreat in Khandala over a prize giving ceremony to winners in accordance with this years theme Swachh Bharat and Save Water.
For over a decade, Gulf Oil has adopted this initiative, conceived to bring a smile on the faces of lesser-privileged children from local schools. The 130-km drive had around 40 under-privileged boys each from Our Lady's Home, in Parel, and Don Bosco Shelter home and 20 girls from Seva Sadan Gamdevi.
This years contest categories included:
- All Ladies team
- Best Decorated Car
- Best Dressed team
The top five winners were Vikas Jogwani, Yuvraj Pandey, Sharaf Pathan, Rohini Gandhi and Madhu Jadav.
Mr. Ravi Chawla, MD, Gulf Oil Lubricants said, Gulf Foster A Child Car Drive being in its 13th year of running is by itself a testimony to the success of this event. What is hearting to see is that there are many families that have been associated with this event for as long. We are happy to be here today and look forward to participation and good wishes of many more families from around Mumbai in the years to come.
One of the participants, Ms. Alpa Patel said, I am participating since seven years and it is fun and amazing. This initiative aims to bring a smile on the faces of under-privileged children and to sensitize people to the plight of these children.
Gulf Foster a Child Car Drive is a combination of navigational expertise -wherein the driver and his crew comprising of the family members and the fostered child for the day, decipher a route chart provided at the start of the drive.
