Hyundai Motor India has today revealed the design renderings of its SUV looking car. The new offering from Hyundai will be called i20 Active. Designed at Hyundai Motors Design Centre Europe in Russelsheim, Germany, i20 Active is scheduled to make an official Global debut in the Indian market in March 2015.
A few days ago, the i20 Active was caught on the lens, without any camouflage as it was being shot for an upcoming commercial on the Hyundai i20 Active. The new i20 Active is based on the same i20 platform, however the ground clearance of this crossover has been increased as Hyundai and it gets body cladding too. The i20 Active will compete with the Fiat Avventura and the Toyota Etios Cross.
The i20 Active adopts a Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language- completing a more sporty, sharper and bold look. The i20 Active, SUV appearance conveys athletic presence and aggressive side-profile rake. The car combines fun driving, a distinctive character and sporty refinement, with the enhanced practicality and quality. The i20 Active gets roof rails too.
Hyundai is also looking at introducing more utility vehicles in India, as the next launch after the i20 Active will be the ix25. In 2016, there will be a new MPV from the Korean brand for the Indian car market. Hyundai has the second largest market share in India, and is the largest auto exporter from India. The Korean brand has a production capacity close to 7 lakh annual units and soon it will have to expand its manufacturing facility to add more units to it.
