Hyundai India has increased the price of its newly launched compact SUV - Creta. The price increase starts with INR10,000 for entry level variantsand goes uptoas much asINR 20,000 for higher variants. The Creta hasorders of over 50,000 units and the waiting period is currentlyaround six months.
The 1.4-litre diesel variants of the Hyundai Creta see a price increase on INR 10,0000, while the1.6-litre diesel variants see a price hike ofINR 20,000 across its range except for the basetrim level. During the launch of the Creta,Hyundai had announced that the price was introductory and it was estimated that prices will be increased down the line. However, what is surprising is that the price hike has come just around the festive season, when most car manufacturers lure buyers with attractive discounts.
The Creta has exceeded expectations in terms of sale and has clocked23,181 units since its launch, till the end of September. Hyundai has alsoincreased production to 7,500 units a month and have postponed their export plans in order to meet domestic demand. No wonder Hyundai is commanding a price hike during the festive season as it is in a more than comfortable situation as far as sales of the Creta is concerned.
