The demand for AMT is on the rise, and several new cars are coming up with this technology. Hyundai being the second largest player in the Indian car market will be introducing AMT in its next range of vehicles. At the moment, the company is evaluating the market, however from what we understand, the development of mating its engines to AMT has already commenced.
The next-generation Eon, the i10 and Grand i10 are likely to get this upgrade. However, this is still about a year away and at the moment under development. The Grand i10 facelift will be the first product to get this update. With the Alto K10 getting an AMT and even Tata Motors working towards one for the Nano, Hyundai will be get an AMT in the Eon 1.0.
Maruti Suzuki already has it in its Alto K10 and the Celerio and soon we could see AMTs in the Swift and the Swift DZire. So, one can expect Hyundai to adhere to these set of audience as well. Even Tata Motors has introduced it on the Zest. The other products to get it will be the Bolt and the Nano. There is no confirmation of the Kite hatchback and sedan. The i10 might have be discontinued in other international markets, but in India it continues to sell along with the Grand i10. Expect a facelift for the i10 by 2016 and also at AMT option. The i10 is already being sold to the Mumbai black-and-yellow cab, as the Santro has been recently discontinued.
