The first, purpose-built motorcycle for the mountains the Himalayan from Royal Enfield has had the web-waves buzzing since a while. Here's a quick 360 spin of the bike (Courtesy, our good friends at Motonomous) that offers a glimpse into the bike that has had everyone gushing over it in anticipation.
The bike looks purposeful; ready to take on all thats thrown at it, on the road & off it. Sporting just the right dimensions, the thoughtful touches visible everywhere on the Royal Enfield Himalayan are a delight to motorcyclists who have the adventure gene in them. A rugged frame that has been thoroughly optimized for the varied environment that it is expected to operate in, with minimalist, purpose built bodywork works wonders for its image. It features the first-ever mono-shock rear suspension on a Royal Enfield, with conventional, long-travel forks at the front. Dual purpose MRF-Gripp tires are paired with a 19-inch front & a 17-inch rear. Ground clearance, at 200mm ought to be enough for even the more seasoned off-roaders in the riding community and a 800mm seat height means that shorter riders too should have no problems putting both feet on the ground.
While, we still have to rev off with the Himalayan, the two factory riders who went up & down the hill, in the short demo was enough to give us a glimpse of what is coming to us. The ease with which they went from being seated with both feet firmly on the ground to riding on-the-pegs was most encouraging.
All-in-all, the Himalayan looks ready to take on the world from the first twist of the throttle. Were stoked!
