Suzuki will be showcasing the YRA/iK-2 at the Geneva Motor Show and this hatchback is likely to be offered with two engine options. One is the K10C and the other is the K12C. The K10C will be offered with an option of manual and automatic transmission, while the K12C will be either the sports version with a new 1.2-litre turbocharged engine, or it will be the DualJet engine. We were the first and only website to reveal the exterior and interior of the YRA/iK-2.
The 1.0-litre engine is mostly the new turbo petrol from Suzuki and it is derived from the current K-Series engine. From our sources, what we understand is that Maruti Suzuki has been testing the YRA/iK-2 with K10C (manual and automatic), while even the K12C has been tested with a manual transmission.
The Suzuki YRA will be a direct competition to the Hyundai Elite i20 and so it should get a similar sized engine too, which is the K12C. As the YRA is a premium hatchback, it will get an automatic transmission and not an automated manual one. The AMT is only on offer for budget hatchbacks, to make clutch-free driving more affordable. The YRA (iK-2) is due to be launched in 2016 in India and not anytime this year.
We had shared this information last time as well, that the Suzuki YRA will be an automatic, however there were a lot of speculations that this will be an AMT. So, just as a confirmation, the YRA will get an automatic on the K10C, while the K12C will be manual. The Suzuki iK-2 will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, after its global unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show tomorrow.
