An individual, identified as MRPA Rajapaksa, succumbed to his injuries following a shooting incident at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) premises on Sunday.
The deceased had been admitted to National Hospital in Colombo, where he breathed his last.
At least three people were injured during the incident, which ensued after a group of protestors blocked former Sri Lankan Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Arjuna Ranatunga's way when he arrived at CPC for a meeting, according to Daily Mirror.
The other victims of the shooting are still receiving treatment at the National Hospital.
A security personnel, who fired five live bullets at the crowd, has been arrested.
Investigation in the matter is underway.
