At least 10 people were killed and 35 others injured when a suicide bomber hit a Christian church in Pakistan's northwest city of Peshawar on Sunday morning, local media reported.

Local Urdu TV channel Geo said that a suicide bomber sneaked into the church and blew himself up inside the crowd of Christians who were coming out of the church after offering prayers.

The incident happened in "Pakistan Church" which is one of the oldest churches in the city.

The injured people including eight kids and a number of women were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.

Hospital sources said that the death toll may further rise as rescue teams are still shifting the injured people to the hospital and some of them are in critical condition.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, Xinhua reported.

Police have cordoned off the area and kicked off a search operation.
