100 kms road to be constructed every month in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh has set up a deadline for completion of all road construction works in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected regions of the state.

Dr Singh, who yesterday chaired a meeting of the Lok Nirman Vibhag, issued directions that 100 kilometres of roads be constructed every month in the state.

The Chief Minister also directed the concerned officials to complete the construction of roads within the given time-limit and ensure plantation on both sides of the roads.

In the meeting, it was also informed that construction of four roads of 186.60 km is also underway in the LWE-affected areas.

 

Dr Singh also said that 1,446 kilometres of road would be constructed in the next 20 months i.e. till March 2018. The cost of this project is estimated to be around Rs. 9, 268 crores.

In the meeting, it was informed that 1444.65 kilometres of roads are presently being constructed in the insurgency-affected areas and the National Highways at a cost of Rs. 9,264 crores.

This includes 2.16 km road from Aarang to Saraipali, 126.5 km road from Raipur to Bilaspur, and eight roads of the National Highways Development Project (NHDP).
