As many as 11 people were killed and four other sustained serious injuries in two separate road accidents in West Bengal on Wednesday.
A truck reportedly crashed into a motor-driven rickshaw van, and hit a lorry subsequently on the National Highway 34 at Suti in Murshidabad district, killing seven people, including a child and two women.
Six of them were travelling in the rickshaw while the truck's helper also lost his life. Four others were sent to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
In another accident on the Manbazar-Bandwan road in Purulia district, three travellers and the driver of a Maruti van were killed in a head-on collision with a private passenger bus.
The bus driver fled the scene.
