11 killed in Vadodara building collapse, Modi orders probe

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has ordered a high-level inquiry in Vadodara building collapse incident.

Modi, who expressed profound grief over the incident, announced a compensation of Rs. two lakh each to the kin of the dead and also ordered constitution of an inquiry commission to probe the incident.

At least 11 people were killed and 40 feared to be trapped under the debris as two multi-storey buildings collapsed in Madhavnagar locality here earlier in the day.

Several others injured in the incident have been admitted to the hospital. Many others are feared to be trapped under the debris. The death toll is expected to rise.
