Over 12 people are feared killed after being run over by a speeding train at a crowded station in Bihar's Khagaria District today.

The untoward incident took place around 160 kilometers from Patna when the people, most of them pilgrims, were standing on the railway tracks at a station in Katyani Sthan, a religious stopover, waiting to board another train. They were crushed by the speeding Saharsa Patna Rajyarani train.

An angry crowd later threw stones at the train, pulled out the driver and beat him.

Train services have been suspended for the time being on this route.
