126 Maoists surrender before Malkangiri Police

Maoist Mesha Muschhaki, who carried a one lakh rupee reward on his head and was allegedly involved in many crimes, surrendered before Malkangiri District Police on Tuesday.

Malkangiri Superintendent of Police, Mitra Bhanu Mohapatra told media here that apart from Mesha, 125 members of the Jan Militia from the village of Silakota had surrendered with the objective of rejoining the mainstream.

Muschhaki said the Maoists are deviating from their ideology and were involved in harassing poor tribals.

The villagers also took a pledge that they will stop supporting Maoists henceforth and work for the development of their area.
