At least 13 persons were killed and over a dozen others got injured after a private bus rammed into a truck parked at a roadside in Uttar Pradesh's Basti District on Saturday.
The incident took place early this morning when a portion of the front of the bus carrying at least 60 passengers smashed into the truck.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Anand Kulkarni said that the injured have been admitted in the district hospital.
"A truck was parked at the roadside near an eating joint. A bus rammed into the truck from the left side. The tyres of the bus have been busted. 13 people have died and those who were injured have been admitted in the district hospital," he said Kulkarni.
Police Commissioner of the district, Sushil Kumar, also reached the district hospital to take stock of the situation.
