2014's most followed World Cup footballers on Twitter revealed

With the 2014 FIFA World CUP less than a week away, the most-followed footballers on Twitter have been revealed and fans have voted Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo as the most followed player on the social networking site.

Ronaldo has reportedly got 26.5 million followers, despite having under 2,000 tweets and dominates the social media game with more than double the amount of followers as the second most-followed player, Neymar Junior from Brazil, who has tweeted more than 40,000 times, Mashable reported.

England striker Wayne Rooney comes in at the third place with 8.8 million followers, but the remaining majority of the Top 10 is controlled by Spain.

 

The most followed footballers on Twitter with million number of followers are:

1. Cristiano Ronaldo: 26.5

2. Neymar Junior: 10.7

3. Wayne Rooney: 8.8

4. Andres Iniesta: 8.7

5. Gerard Pique: 8.4

6. Xabi Alonso: 7.3

7. Cesc Fabregas: 6.6

8. David Villa: 5.9

9. Mesut Ozil: 5.8

10. Sergio Aguero: 5.
