Drinking three cups of tea a day is enough to cut the risks of heart attacks, strokes and tooth decay and help with weight loss, a new study has found.

Black tea, Britain's favourite, has anti-oxidants to help the heart, the Daily Star reported.

A brew, even when taken with sugar, is also good at combating two types of bacteria linked with tooth decay and gum disease.

Dr Carrie Ruxton, an independent health expert who did the research, said that tea is great for teeth, and found tea can help with dieting.

She said that natural compounds found in tea, called flavonoids, promote fat burning and slow down fat absorption in the gut.
