30 people lost their lives and 15 were injured when a gold mine collapsed in Kohistan district in north-eastern Badakhshan province of Afghanistan on Sunday, officials confirmed.
Tolo News reported that the mine collapsed around 11 am in Kohistan district while the mining activities were still going on.
The spokesman for Badakhshan governor, Nek Mohammad Nazari said 15 miners, who were injured in the accident, were rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the officials did not mention anything regarding the number of miners still trapped inside the gold mine.
The death toll in the mine collapse incident is expected to rise.
