ANI Kabul, [Afghanistan]

At least 36 people were killed and 71 others injured in the airstrikes carried out by the military forces in the Kunduz province, according to a United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) report.

The strikes took place in Dasht-e-Archi district of Kunduz province on April 2.

The report said 30 of the dead and 51 of the wounded were children, reported Tolo news.

"A key finding of this report is that the government, which indicated the airstrike, targeted senior Taliban leaders present in the area, used rockets and heavy machinegun fire on and around a religious gathering, killing and injuring civilians, the majority of whom were children," the report said.

The UNAMA, however, was not able to confirm the exact number of civilian and Taliban casualties.

Till now, 50 Taliban members had been killed leaving 150 wounded.
