Two buses collided with each other in southeast Zimbabwe, killing 47 people.
According to state broadcaster ZBC, a bus was on its way to the capital Harare from Mutare and the other was coming in the opposite direction when the mishap occurred in Rusape town, Al Jazeera reported.
"We (can) confirm that 47 people have died in a road traffic accident at the 166 km peg along the Harare-Mutare highway," police spokesperson Paul Nyathi told ZBC. He added that several others were wounded in the incident.
Zimbabwean transport minister Biggie Matiza, in a statement, condemned the incident, saying that he was "saddened by the development".
