A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.9 at the Richter Scale shook parts of central American nation El Salvador on Monday, the US Geological Survey reported.
The quake 40 km southwest of Puerto El Triunfo municipality in El Salvador created panic among residents.
The epicentre, with a depth of 49.89 km, was initially determined to be at 13.0306 degrees north latitude and 88.8159 degrees west longitude, the USGS said.
No major loss of property or harm to citizens has been reported as of now.
