Brits are under 'Fifty Shades of Grey' effect and have splurged a whopping 50 million pounds on sex toys, erotic novels and pleasure products this Christmas, claims a new research.

Lovehoney, Britain's biggest online sex toy retailer, has revealed that in their 12-year history, they sold more than 20,000 items in a day, which was more than any other day in the UK, ever, the Daily Star reported.

Lovehoney has the official licence for all 'Fifty Shades' pleasure products and pharmacy items, the only ranges approved by the original book's author E L James, and has spent 1 million dollars on TV advertising for Christmas and Valentine's Day to grab a bigger slice of this booming market.

The company's co-owner Richard Longhurst said that they had seen a similarity in spending on erotic goods, and their turn-over doubled in the space of a year, with the women buying erotic fiction for on the beach and on trains read.

While 80 percent of the books were read by women, the audience for the film is expected to be split evenly amongst the sexes, and the people are even expected to experiment with sex toys after watching it, he added.
