7.7 magnitude earthquake hits Nepal, tremors felt across northern India

A strong earthquake measuring 7.7 magnitude has hit east of Pokhara in Nepal, around half way between the town and the capital Kathmandu, said the US Geological Survey.

According to the Daily Mail, there are no immediate reports on the damage or casualties.

The earthquake was 31 km deep and tremors were felt as far as New Delhi and other northern cities in India, said witnesses.
