70,000 poll personnel to be deployed for Haryana elections

About 70,000 polling personnel will be deployed at 16,357 polling stations during the Haryana state assembly elections on October 15.

A press release issued by Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Walgad said that 1,351 candidates would be contesting the polls.

The release further revealed that 90 candidates each belong to Bhartiya Janta Party and Indian National Congress, 88 to Indian National Lok Dal, 87 to Bahujan Samaj Party, 14 to CPI, 17 to CPM, 65 to Haryana Janhit Congress and 23 to its alliance partner Haryana Jan Chetna Party, 75 to Haryana Lokhit Party and 199 to other registered political parties and 603 are Independents.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address election rallies in Hisar, Kurukshetra and Faridabad today.

A BJP spokesman said that party leaders Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Amit Shah and Navjot Singh Sidhu would address rallies in different parts of the state in the coming days.

After breaking its alliance with Haryana Janhit Congress, this is for the first time party has fielded its own candidates on all seven Assembly seats of Hisar, six in Faridabad and four in Kurukshetra.
