A 76-year-old British man has reportedly marked his return to the golf course after a two-year battle with cancer with a spectacular 'hole-in-one' with his very first shot.
Geoff Pilkington, who was playing at Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club near Liverpool, along with his son, stunned onlookers, including European Tour golf professional Tommy Fleetwood, with a perfect shot off the first tee, in very windy conditions.
According to the Mirror, Pilkington believes that his late brother was watching over the course and helped guide the ball in and said that Fleetwood whooped with joy as he hit the hole, although he admitted that he did not believe the ball had gone into the hole until he saw it with his own eyes.
The report mentioned that Pilkington was playing in The Jack Nicklaus Millennium trophy, an annual competition for a group of members, friends and guests who play over the Christmas period.
