The 8th Delhi International Arts Festival, one of India's most prestigious cultural festivals, kick-started here on Tuesday.
The inaugural function saw an array of performances by dancers from Turkey, Kazakastan and Malaysia as well as an opening performance of vedic chants of 'Veda-Shakha Swadhyaya' .
This iconic festival of art which spans two weeks in multiple venues will present dance, music, theatre-both national and international from the most traditional forms to cutting edge contemporary, poetry, literature, exhibitions, handloom and handicrafts, film festivals, a North East carnival, Sufi and Qawwali.
The Festival is expected to witness performances by artistic groups from over 14 countries alongside over 2000 Indian artistes.
The festival that is being held from 28th October to 11th November, 2014 is being collaborated by the Union Ministry of Culture and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
