Nine out of every 10 people - aged under 30 - suffer from "nomophobia," the fear of having no mobile phone, according to a survey.

The survey was conducted by Cisco and its chief technology officer Kevin Bloch said that it was happening subconsciously, and 20 percent people texted while driving.

The survey also found that these people had addiction to their smartphones and became anxious when it went missing, the Courier Mail reported.

Bloch said that for many under 30s, the smartphone is an extension of themselves, from the moment they wake up until they fall asleep.

He added that these people check for texts, emails and social media at least once every 10 minutes.
