The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has planned to expedite the proposal of making a feature film on the life of former deputy prime minister Babu Jagjivan Ram.
They have also decided to make a token budgetary provision of Rs 2 crore in this regard.
The decisions were taken in the general body meeting of the Babu Jagjivan Ram National Foundation, which is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The centre is also planning to request the state governments to include a chapter on Jagjivan Ram's life in their curriculum.
Apart from this, the centre is also planning to introduce Babu Jagjivan Ram Scheme for financial assistance for organising memorial events in connection with the celebration of birth and death anniversary of saints and other eminent personalities.
They have also decided to establish a library in the Babu Jagjivan Ram National Foundation located in New Delhi.
Earlier, the Centre developed five places as Panchteerth in the honour of B R Ambedkar.
