Doping-accused Yankees player Alex Rodriguez marked the start of his appeal on the same day as the start of postseason baseball, to overturn his 211-game suspension, on Monday, and looked nervous before the hearing at MLB's headquarters.
According to Yardbarker.com, it is possible that this could carry on for more than a month because it is technically A-Rod's first PED violation offense and the players association filed a grievance to force an appeal.
It is believed that arbitrator Fredric Horowitz could make his ruling about 25 days after the hearing wraps up, the report said.
As arbitrator, he has the final word to reduce, overturn or uphold the 211-game suspension, the report added.
It is also likely that MLB would not want to disrupt the postseason, much less the World Series with the news of an A-Rod suspension decision, the report further said.
If Rodriguez wins the judgment of the arbitrator, the Yankees will have to pay him his entire salary, and drastically reduce their ability to shop in the free-agent market, according to the report.
