The Solomon's temple in the Chawlhmun area of Aizawl is the largest church in the state of Mizoram. The architecturally rich church attracts visitors from all across the globe due to its immense significance.
The church is run by the members of the 'Holy Church', locally known as 'Kohhran Thianghlim', a non-denominational Christian section in Mizoram.
The foundation stone of this historic monumental multi-storied temple was laid in 1996, and soon after that the construction work began in 1997, paving a way to a successor to the original Solomon's Temple of Jerusalem mentioned in the Old Testament.
The Solomon temple stands atop the Kidron valley spreading over 3,025 sq metres, with four towers topped with a crown each and four pillars emblazoned with seven Stars of David.
Ht Darbuka, a caretaker of the Church said, "This Temple is being constructed by the member's contribution only that is why for the construction, we have put the duration for 20 years. Now I think within five to six months, we would be able to complete it."

"The temple compound is surrounded by forestry which we planted by ourselves especially bearing fruits for visitors. By the time of ripening of the fruits, many visitors used to come here for fruits as well and this place has already become a kind of paradise for the people." he added.
The church has a seating capacity of 3,000 people within the main hall and ten thousand people within its courtyard called, 'The porch of Solomon's Temple'.
For the visitors hassle free movements, 12 main doors have been constructed. It opens everyday from 9:30 am in the morning and closes at 4:30 in the evening.
A visitor at the Chruch said, "I came from Guwahati to see this Solomon Temple in Aizawl. We have been told that this is one of the largest churches in the state and of course, it is magnificent and beautifully constructed. I just love it."
The great Solomon Temple reflects the old monumental buildings built by famous architects.
