 "AAI conferred national award for best performing central PSU for Green Energy initiatives")
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been conferred the National Award for Best Performing Central PSU for Roof Top Solar Power initiatives at a glittering function at Vigyan Bhawan by Minister of State for Power, Coal and Renewable Energy, Piyush Goyal. The award was received by Shri A. K. Misra, ED (Engg) on behalf of AAI.
As part of Clean Climate commitments, AAI's efforts towards Solar Roof Top Projects which was initiated way back in 2010 with visionary approach towards "Invest in the Sun" Solar Revolution and commitment to sustainability have reduced carbon emission considerably, thereby, contributing for Green Energy initiative.
AAI has been successful in complying with the commitment made for Solar Roof Top by installing 4.8 MWp roof top solar plants at 13 airports and further work for 4.9 MWp at 14 airports is likely to be completed by December, 2016. The solar energy generation so far is 51 Lakhs units (Approx.) from the completed solar power plants at various airports.
