ANI New Delhi [India]

The authorities of Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) on Monday carried out an inquiry into the breach of separation incident at Kolkata Airport which took place on December 11, 2016.

The preliminary inquiry has blamed an official of Air Traffic Control (ATC), who now has been suspended.

According to sources, Emirates flight took off when the accused ATC asked Indigo flight to come on runaway for the next take off. As Indigo flight was parked on runaway, a Silk Air flight was descending at rapid pace to land.

The Silk Air aircraft pilot saw the Indigo aircraft taking off and instead of landing, decided to be in air and alerted the ATC.

At that time there was no caution or warning issued by the ATC.
