The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Bishada village and meet the family of deceased Mohammad Akhlaq, who was killed by a mob over reports of him keeping beef in his house.

"We want that the family should get the condolences over the incident and be assured that it won't happen again. We would also appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the grieving family and assure them that this incident won't happen again in the country," AAP leader Ashutosh told reporters here.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was earlier barred by the local administration from entering the Bishada village, where the incident took place.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh, Kumar Vishwas and Ashutosh were also present with Kejriwal.

"We don't know why we were barred from entering the village. The police administration told us that we can't enter the village and we were to be escorted to the guest house," said Ashutosh when asked for the reasons for denying entry to the AAP team into the village.

"The chief minister is also sitting here. We have been told that some senior officers will come, we are waiting for them," he added.
