The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday strongly condemned the hoisting of the Pakistani flag and the chanting of anti-India slogans in separatist leader Masarat Alam's rally and added that anybody who indulges in such activities must be brought to justice.
"If Pakistan flags are hoisted or anti-India slogans are being chanted in any part of the country that is deplorable and condemnable, we strongly condemn it, and anybody who is indulged or involved in it, should be arrested and should be brought to justice," AAP spokesperson, Ashutosh told ANI here.
The AAP also questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party over its 'unprincipled alliance' with the People's Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir.
"The BJP should answer, why is it happening so? Is it because BJP has entered into an unprincipled alliance just for the sake of power in Kashmir?" Ashutosh said.
Earlier in the day, as a preventive measure to maintain law and order, Alam and another separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani were put under house arrest. Alam was later arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police.
The People's Democratic Party (PDP), though, denied that Alam had been arrested under pressure from Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh or Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
The BJP, meanwhile, sought to assert that it follows a principle of zero-tolerance towards terrorism and separatism.
