Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh on Tuesday said the party came out with a statement justifying the expulsion of Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan from the party's top panel to dispel the misconception of 'one sided action' against the ousted duo.

"The happenings over the last five to six days were sending a very negative message to the people. It had started to appear as if the party had taken a one sided action. We had decided on March 4 itself that we will not talk about internal matters of the party outside," Singh told ANI.

He added that some leaders had spoken about internal matters of the party openly despite having decided that they would not do so.

"But after that Mayank Gandhi wrote a blog which created lots of confusion among people. Even Yogendra Yadav spoke to lot of channels, Prashant Bhushan also gave some statements. So we couldn't adhere to what we had decided on March 4. Because of this an official statement had to be made to set things straight. The time has now come to tell right things to the people. Today we have given a justification that it was not a one sided action," Singh said.

Earlier in the day, AAP had issued a statement justifying the expulsion of Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan from the Political Affairs committee (PAC) of the party on March 4.

The statement said, "During Delhi elections, three senior AAP leaders were working towards our defeat-Yogendra Yadav, Shanti Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan. Prashant Bhushan used to call up AAP leaders of other states and tried to convince them to not campaign in Delhi."

The statement further said that Prashant Bhushan told AAP leaders: 'I won't campaign, you shouldn't either...Arvind needs to be taught a lesson.
