Applauding the people of Delhi for showing their courage in ensuring an impressive result in the assembly polls, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav on Tuesday said he was hopeful of his party bagging more than 50 seats.

"I salute those people of Delhi with whose courage we have reached here. The trends clearly show that the party will cross the mark of 50 seats," he told ANI here.

Yadav further said that the predictions which he made earlier with regard to the number of seats that his party would win in the polls was earlier dubbed as a 'propaganda' by many.

"We have come in politics, but will not lie. Earlier, when I had made predictions about the results of the polls, some people were saying that it is propaganda. But it is not like that. The wave that was actually prevailing in Delhi has today come in front of everybody," he added.

As per the latest reports, the AAP is inching closer to government formation in Delhi with the party leading in 62 seats. The BJP is ahead in 7 seats while the Congress is trailing in all the 70 assembly seats.

The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements for the counting of votes. Counting is taking place at 14 centres in nine districts of the national capital.

A three-tier security has been put in place at all the 14 counting centres.

A voter turnout of 67.08 percent was recorded in the polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly. A total of 673 candidates are in the fray this time.
