Appearing on behalf of arrested Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers, Advocate Shekhar Kumar on Saturday defended those workers arrested by the police in connection with incriminating posters appearing in Jamai Nagar and claimed that their arrest was part of maligning AAP.
"The police had filed an application for judicial custody in court. The court ordered judicial custody till August 2 and bail application has been set for 12:30 p.m on Monday," Advocate Kumar said.
"There was no mistake from AAP workers. Police had deliberately did not arrest those whose names were in the posters, in order to defame AAP these people were falsely implicated," Advocate Kumar added.
The Aam Aadmi Party has claimed that the BJP is trying to frame them over arrest of party spokesperson Dilip Pandey and a few other AAP members under non-bailable Sections 153 and 295 of the Indian Penal Code, for allegedly instigating people, and putting up posters with provocative message against Congress MLAs in Jamia Nagar area.
According to the police, Congress MLAs alleged that the posters, along with provocative message have been put up by AAP to divide the community.
