The ABC News has come under heavy criticism on social media for being hugely irresponsible' and a 'disgrace' in view of its Twitter statement regarding Phillip Hughes' condition.
Hughes, who suffered a heavy blow on head by a bouncer during South Australia's Sheffield Shield clash with NSW at SCG, was being stretched from the field and ABC News tweeted Cricket NSW could not confirm if the batsman was alive when he left the stadium.
In response, online community has criticized ABC News for being 'irresponsible', 'disgraceful' and 'shocking', News.com.au reported.
Later, the ABC admitted that their comment was 'insensitive' and apologized for any distress it would have caused.
He has been admitted in the St Vincent Hospital, where was kept in an induced coma before undergoing surgery.
