Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit expressed his gratitude to Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for attending the 'Eid Milan programme' here on Tuesday.
"I would especially like to thank Mirwaiz, who came all the way from Srinagar to attend this function," Basit said at the event.
The Hurriyat leader was amongst those who showed up at the 'Eid Milan' programme at the Pakistani embassy here today.
The Pakistan High Commission had cancelled its original plan to host an 'iftar' on July 4, during the holy month of Ramzan, to ensure that the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the SCO summit in the Russian city of Ufa went off without any hiccups.
