Buoyed by increasing popularity of Zindagi TV channels exclusively showing Pakistani soaps and family serials, Pakistan has approached Indian authorities to allow more of its entertainment channels to relay their programmes to the Indian audience.

"Here, we are trying with the (Indian) authorities to allow more Pakistani channels like Geo TV Entertainment, Hum TV and ARY," Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit said at an interactive session of the ASSOCHAM here today.

He said it was important that the real picture of Pakistani society was conveyed among Indians who at present are not aware of the same and carry several misconceived notions about issues and status of Pakistani women.

Zindagi TV channel showing Pakistani sitcoms is gaining popularity. Basit said in Pakistan Indian entertainment sitcoms are allowed and aired.
