Abdulla Yameen has won the presidential election run-off vote in the Maldives.
Yameen secured 51.3 percent of the vote, compared with 48.6 percent that ex-President Mohamed Nasheed secured, the Election Commission said.
According to the BBC, Nasheed had won 47 percent in the first round this month, just short of the 50 percent needed for clear victory.
He has accepted defeat, saying he supported the democratic process.
Yameen, the half-brother of Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, who ruled the nation for 30 years, will be sworn in on Sunday, the report added.
