Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra on Monday said that he was calling time on his professional involvement in shooting.

Bindra, who is currently participating in the Asian Games being held in Incheon, South Korea, will on Tuesday compete in the 10-metre air rifle event.

"Tomorrow will mark the end of my professional shooting life ! I will however still shoot , compete as a hobby shooter training twice a week," he said on twitter.

However, Bindra also said that he will try to qualify for the 2016 Olympics, to be held in Rio de Janeiro.

"And yes I will still try to be at rio and my bio is now most appropriate ! Great times and am sure there will be a few more !" he said in his tweet.

Bindra was the first Indian to win a gold medal for an individual event in the Olympics, when he won the 10-metre air rifle event in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
