Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Rahul Mehra on Sunday said External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's involvement in the expediting of former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit
Modi's travel papers comes as no surprise and added that the latter's 'acche din' has come as he is known to be close to many BJP leaders.
"It is not surprising. Lalit Modi is close to many BJP leaders, his 'acche din' has surely come. If the 'acche din' of people of the country has come or not, it remains to be seen...IPL was Lalit Modi's creation, but then he messed it up. There was no transparency and accountability in IPL," he told ANI.
Mehra, who is a sports activist, also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take initiatives to clean up the cricket administration in India.
"It is for him (PM Modi) to act on his words. He knows what ills are there in cricket, he has been a part of that cricket administration for almost six to seven years. His right hand man Amit Shah continues to be so, his left hand Mr. Arun Jaitley is a person who has ruled the cricket and has been the member of BCCI for 15 years," said Mehra.
"They all know what is happening in the dirty corridors of BCCI. The point is do they have the intent and the will, they surely have the power. Do they have will to go after these guys?" he added.
The External Affairs Minister had earlier admitted to helping Lalit Modi with his travel documents, but made it clear that she did so only on humanitarian grounds.

Amid calls for her resignation by the opposition parties, Swaraj tried to clarify her position via a series of tweets.
Swaraj said that she took a humanitarian view of Modi's case since his wife was suffering from cancer.
"Taking a humanitarian view, I conveyed to the British High Commissioner that "British Government should examine the request of Lalit Modi as per British rules and regulations. If the British Government chooses to give travel documents to Lalit Modi that will not spoil our bilateral relations," she tweeted.
