An activist who helped found the group called "Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently" in Syria has described life under the capital of the so-called Islamic State (IS) caliphate like a big prison where the problem is not getting into the city of Raqqa but getting out of it.

According to the Daily Star, the activist uses the name Abu Ibrahim al-Raqqawi to speak up and describe the IS torture.

Al-Raqqawi said that the IS militants have also executed a member of their activist group and have made it clear that they want everyone involved dead.

He said that around 40 people have been executed in the city in two months over charges of being a fighter for the Free Syrian Army, being gay or killing others.

The city of Raqqa is also being flooded by foreign fighters from across the world while people are forced into donating blood by the jihadists , said the activist.

He further said that there were more than 270 cases of girls being forced to marry IS fighters.
