Adidas suspends contract with Tyson Gay following positive dope test

Adidas has suspended their contract with sprinter Tyson Gay after testing positive in a drugs test.

Gay is waiting for the results of his B sample from the United States Anti-Doping Agency having reportedly been tested positive for a banned substance.

According to the Mirror, the 30-year-old said that he basically put his trust in someone and was let down.

In a statement, the sportswear giant said that Adidas and Gay have been partners since 2005 and during this time he has been a great ambassador for the sport of track and field and the brand.

It added that the company has suspended its contract with Gay after shocking reports of him testing positive for using banned substance.

 

The statement said that Adidas has a clear policy on doping and drug use.

It said that each of the agreements with the athletes include a clear clause which states that the agreement shall be terminated if the athlete is found guilty of the possession or use of drugs or any other prohibited substance by the relevant governing sports body having jurisdiction over the athlete, the report added.
